We are currently seeing an experienced trainer on the topic of fasteners, specifically around:

  • Slip critical connections
  • Predicting bolt slip
  • Torque relaxation
  • Specifying a torque
  • Torque and clamp load relationships
  • K factors, how to determine them, and factors that affect them
  • Bolt and nut coating, surface finish, washer type/hardness/ hole size etc
  • Uncertainties, and safety factors
  • Bolt yield, UTS, Proof
  • Common failure modes of bolted joints and how to design against them, eg over-torqueing, bolt relaxation, bending fatigue, shear failure, fretting fatigue, axial overload, axial fatigue etc
  • Potential results of bolted joint failure.
