Fellow

F SAE-A

A Fellow member will have been in charge of the design and development of an automotive engineering product of nationally recognised importance, or have high educational qualifications in engineering and have made a noteworthy contribution to the science of automotive engineering in Australia, or contributed to automotive engineering in Australasia to an exceptional degree as a result of an extensive career in positions of responsibility, or have otherwise satisfied the Directors of their worthiness for election to this grade.

 M SAE-A

For professional engineers in the mobility industry, who hold an engineering Degree and have been practicing for a minimum of 5 years in an appropriate position of responsibility within the automotive or associated industries.

Associate Member

AM SAE-A

For professional engineers in the mobility industry, who hold an engineering or science Degree, or an Advanced Diploma (TAFE) in engineering or technology within the Australian Qualifications Framework, or an equivalent technical qualification, or be engaged in relevant engineering or associated technical activities accepted by the Directors.

 Associate Member -T

 AMT SAE-A

For persons who are trade and technically qualified with TAFE or equivalent Certificate but who have not yet attained the technical qualifications, experience or level of responsibility to qualify for the grade of Associate Member. Persons elected to this grade must hold a TAFE Certificate III or Certificate IV  in engineering or technology within the Australian Qualifications Framework or have completed a recognised apprenticeship in the automotive industry, or an equivalent technical qualification accepted by the Directors.

 Affiliate

 AFF SAE-A

For persons engaged or interested in mobility engineering, who do not have engineering qualifications and do not wish to be processed through the Grading committee.

(Affiliate members are not eligible to vote, be involved in standards development, or be nominated for chair or treasurer roles)

  (Applicable to Member & Associate    Member membership levels)

  4^th Year

 Applicable to Students who have completed a      full time course of study, including apprenticeships four years after graduation. The Graduate level will be for a 1 year period.

  3^rd Year

Applicable to Students who have completed a full time course of study, including apprenticeships three years after graduation. The Graduate level will be over a 2 year period.

Applicable to Students who have completed a full time course of study, including apprenticeships two years after graduation. The Graduate level will be over a 3 year period.
